Finke River (less water)

I got up before the sun and took a shower before the que got to long.  It was great, hot water and everything. I didn't know they had showers on trains.  Another first was to see two rivers (Finke & Todd) that had everything except water.  We arrived at Alice Springs right on time.  We quickly scoped out the tours and booked a three day Outback Safari (backpackers special).  We will be camping under the stars (where there is no light pollution).  Someone else will be doing the barbie and cooking.  We spent the afternoon in the shops looking for hats and fly nets.  We were also checking out the Didgeridoos.   We are getting ready to go over to a computer store to get this transmitted.   We won't be back in town for three days . Our update will end for awhile since we don't have a satellite uplink.

We ate Mexican for lunch today.  I told them I wanted salsa picante and they don't lie here.  The rice was ass-kicking hot!  We made one more stop at the Strehlow Research Centre which showed reflections of a rich aboriginal culture and the evocative story of a man who pursued it.  We may be meeting Sharon's (Andrew's professor) sister for dinner if we can catch her.  G'day.
