The SEATTLE TIMES (Nov. 2) ran an article on how hard it is to correct y2k errors.

"Programmers got cute," says Judy Schneider, director of information systems with the state Department of Social and Health Services, "so we're cleaning up the detritus of their artistic expression.

"We had some dates that weren't even dates, but `Bob.' That's what the programmer called them. Any time you saw `Bob,' that was a date. . . . So we found all the `Bobs' and turned them into real dates. It was a goodly number."
